Paper Project- Jackson Pollack

Activity: In this activity, we started by learning about Jackson Pollack. We learned about him and his Drip painting. The first thing that they had us do was cut out the three geometric shapes. After we had them cut out, we had to trace the shapes on our construction paper. We were also able to title our artwork. "My Drip Collage" is what I titled my art work. We next were given a pan that had three different areas with shaving cream. For the first section of shaving cream, we were able to mix yellow and orange food coloring. After we mixed the food coloring, we dipped our first geometric shape into the shading cream. I dipped my circle in the first shaving cream. We had to lightly push your geometric shape into the cream. When then pulled out the shaving cream and took a card to scrap off the excess shaving cream. After we did that we, we were able to create these awesome designs. We did the same step for the last two shapes, both there were different colors. The second set of food coloring was yellow and blue, and the last set was red and blue. After our shapes had dried, we glued them onto the construction paper where we had traced them. At the end, we had to make a border around the shapes and then create our own sentence of why I chose this unique design. Finally, we signed our artwork and graded ourselves. This was such a fun project!


Extension Activity: An extension activity for this project is talking about the different geometric shapes other than the ones that are provided. You could incorporate this art project with math and the shapes that are being discussed during that week. You could also have students create one of their own geometric shapes along with the three that the teacher provides. This allows them to be creative and show how much they have learned about shapes in math class.

  Activity: We started this lesson by learning about printmaking and some of the artists. We got to look at a powerpoint that had some facts about the artist and some of their artwork. After that, we got to start being an artist. The first thing that we did was make a design that had three different patterns. After we made that design on paper, we have to trace it onto a piece of Styrofoam. Once we have the lines on the styrofoam, we went over it with a pencil to make the indents on the paper deeper. We then took a piece of paper where we did our background. You had to make the background either 3 warms colors or 3 cool colors. In my design, I had a background of three cool colors. We then got to do our print making. We had to pick a color that we wanted to use for the ink. I chose the color blue. You would take the ink and then roll into onto our styrofoam. Footprint Introductions

Description: This is my footprint introduction. This is here to represent me and things that are important to me. I have added a volleyball because I play volleyball at NSU and want to coach after I graduate from NSU. I also added in my graduation year of 2023. I love to read books, so I added one of my favorite books which is Harry Potter. I am from Aberdeen, SD and I work at Ken's the grocery store. In this project, I have included more than three medias. These include: construction paper, marker, sharpies, magazine, and a posted note.  Extension Activity: An extension to this assignment would be that the students would create a footprint introduction like we did, but a little different. Instead of putting only things that we like, the students would add information in their culture and backgrounds. African Masks

Activity: At the beginning of the class period, we got to learn about African Masks. They had given us some background on African masks, which included things like what they were, why they were used, and the meaning behind them. After that, we got to complete a pre test that had us draw 4 lines of symmetry on some pictures. They we had to draw 2 geometrics shapes and then create a pattern with the 2 geometric shapes. After that, we goto to start to design our masks. They started by having us create our mask on the back of our pre-assessment. After we had a design planned out, we got to transfer it to the construction paper. When we created our mask, we had to have three different design.
