DOT Day Explorations
Activity: For this activity, we got to explore the history of the dot. The first thing that we got to do was listen to the book The Dot by Peter Reynolds. We were then given as coffee filter to make our own dot. We were suppose to use at least three different types of medias. Some of these can include markers, oil pastels, sharpie, and crayons. After we had made our design with the medias, we would blend them when we mixed it with water colors. It was fun to see how the colors can really blend when using water colors.
Extension Activity: An extension activity for this project could be have students create their own dot based on a book that they are reading. Many teachers have students read books and they could choose a design that would represent their book. It could be a character or scene in the book. After students have created their dot, they will share what it is and then we will hang them up around the classroom.
